English singer-songwriter Charli XCX is ready to release a brand new single and close the promotion of her debut album “True Romance“, which was published on April 12 via Asylum and Atlantic Records. The singer teased details about her new song. The track entitled “SuperLove” is described as a follow-up to the song she wrote for Icona Pop and worldwide hit single “I Love It“.
The new single was premiered alongside the official music video directed by Ryan Andrews on Thursday September 26th and will be released on digital retailers (UK) on December 1st.
About the song, she explained:
“It’s a mix of the Icona Pop track and takes inspiration from Bow Wow Wow, The Waitresses and The Flying Lizards and those Lolita-esque bratty French girls and other girl power heroines. I wrote the song the same week as ‘I Love It’. Let’s just say I was in a similar mind frame! The video is also the best I’ve ever shot. It’s a completely new vibe.”
This new track is confirmed as the lead single from her upcoming sophomore studio album that’s planned for release in March 2014. About the album, she said:
“The songs are quite shouty and bratty. It’s more live and less intimate. The songs are very pop with a bit of punk. I’m aiming for a March release. I figure I took so long to make the last one, why not just get it out straight away. I’ve written half of it already and I’ve already got the first three big singles for it. I feel like I’ve figured out my place in the industry – I started so young – and I’ve learnt how to take control of what I’m doing and making sure it happens!”
