For many people, marriage proposals are a big deal. Some even spend thousands of dollars in order to stage a remarkable and memorable surprise in their bid to persuade their partners to say yes.
But if there is true love, the grandiose and the luxury of an expensive marriage proposal doesn’t matter. This fact is proven by a lovely couple from South Africa who got engaged in a Kentucky Fried Chicken store. With only around 20 people as witnesses when the soon-to-bride said yes to the soon-to-be groom, the moment was undeniably magical – even with the absence of all the theatrics.
Of course, other customers who were in the KFC store during that time took snapshots and videos of the wonderful moment. And as expected, it immediately went viral.
The story has been picked up by thousands of people who admired the deed, with many wishing the couple best wishes. So when a girl on Twitter decided to ruin the moment for mocking the proposal and calling them “low-class,” something even more wonderful happened.
KFC came in for the rescue! The popular fast-food chain offered to pay for the wedding of the couple. In the official Twitter account of KFC South Africa, the brand asked netizens for help to locate the couple because they have a “gift” for them.
“Mzansi, please help us find this beautiful couple, re batla ho ba blesser DM us any leads, there might be a Finger-Lickin’ Good surprise in it for you too. Batho ba Vaal re thuseng! We love love #KFCProposal,” they wrote.
As the hashtag #KFCProposal becomes more viral with the offer of KFC to pay for the couple’s wedding, other brands jumped into the bandwagon. McDonald’s also offered the couple a free honeymoon! A jewelry store also promised to give the couple an R45000-worth wedding rings because “they deserve rose gold with diamonds.”
The surprises did not end there. Huawei also wants to give the couple smartphones as a gift. According to the post of the phone manufacturer, they want the smartphones to be used by the couple to capture their great moments.
“Hey @KFCSA, nothing moves us more than a story of love, and as a result, we would like to send the #KFCProposal couple two devices to capture all of their memorable moments,” reads Huawei’s Twitter post.
The bride would also not need to pay for her wedding dress because multiple designers also offered to make her dream wedding gown for free.
Puma also offered credit in their stores as a gift. Audi and Uber wanted to help by offering another honeymoon. The Standard Bank in South Africa even offered to pay off the debt of the couple!
“We didn’t want to steal the happy couple’s shine, but since some of you have asked, we’d like to offer them a clean slate. Over and above imulva mlomo, we’ll clear their personal loans up to R300K & if they’re with us, we’ll clear it all!” read the bank’s Twitter post.

As of the moment, the chain of kind-hearted brands willing to help the couple live their dream wedding is growing. It couldn’t be even more wonderful than this!
