No remorse: Bill Cosby says he prefers spending time in jail

The possibility of serving ten years in prison can easily break people down, but not Bill Cosby, a convicted felon for sexual crimes. And while most sex offenders express remorse after they are convicted of their crimes, Bill Cosby refuses to do so. In an interview, the 82-year-old said that he would rather spend the rest of his sentence in jail than express any form of remorse during a parole hearing.

For the first time after his sentencing, the infamous “America’s Dad” granted an interview inside the prison to National Newspaper Publishers Association’s BlackPressUSA.com. This is the first public interview that Cosby has entertained after his conviction of eight to ten years of imprisonment last year.

The 81-year-old comedian was sentenced to ten years in prison after being convicted with three counts of sexual assault after he drugged and sexually abused Andrea Constand, an ex-basketball player, in 2004. While he was only convicted of sexual crimes for the case against him by Constand, more than 60 women came forward to tell their stories about Bill Cosby and his sexual exploits.

“When I come up for parole, they’re not going to hear me say that I have remorse,” Cosby told the website. “I was there. I don’t care what group of people come along and talk about this when they weren’t there. They don’t know.”

This sentiment is not new for Bill Cosby. Earlier this year, he has been referring to his jail as his own “penthouse” and even likened himself to the likes of Martin Luther King after the trial.

Through his publicist, the condemned comedian made remarks like: “My political beliefs, my actions of trying to humanize all races, genders, and religions landed me in this place surrounded by barb wire fencing, a room made of steel and iron.” He even said that his time in prison has bee an “awesome experience.”

“I now have a temporary residence that resembles the quarters of some of the Greatest Political Prisoners – Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Randal Robinson, and Dr. Benjamin Chavis. I stand upright as a Political Prisoner, and I Smile,” he said.

In an earlier statement, Cosby already said that he has no remorse over the crimes he was convicted of. “I was given a deal; I settled out of court for $3.8 million; I waived my 5th amendment rights; I was declared Not Guilty in 2005 by the Commonwealth — never charged. However, a low-life District Attorney and a corrupt Judge needed me Guilty now. Not for justice, but for their political aspirations.” Cosby added.

Ever since he has continuously denied all the allegations thrown at him and has crafted several measures to have his retrial request granted. He even filed for an appeal accusing the jury as biased and imposters.

“It’s all a set-up,” Cosby told the website of his conviction. “That whole jury thing. They were imposters.”
