Rihanna is bringing back this early 2000s nail trend

Rihanna has recently shown off her new early-2000s French manicure in a selfie posted on Instagram, joining the likes of Ariana Grande and Khloé Kardashian. While the singer is known for her bold beauty choices, the subtle look she debuted on Instagram is very flattering.

In the caption of her Instagram post she shared that it had been quite an overwhelming year, likely due to struggling to balance acting, brand building and her fashion design work. Perhaps opting for the French manicure was a good decision, given how easy it is to maintain.

The nail style is known for being good at hiding flaws such as chips, making it perfect for those who don’t have enough time to visit the salon on the regular. It is also a cost effective option which can be done at home.

The look is characterised by long, natural-looking nails coated in a sheer nude polish, with a stripe of white polish at the top. After emerging in the late 1800s-early 1900s, the French manicure regained popularity in the early 2000s, but it faded out by 2010. However, celebrities like Rihanna are helping to make it popular again today.

Some of the more popular nail art styles in 2019 include pop art, tie dye, holographic, retro 80s, sheer, celestial, and soft gradients.

However, we live in an ‘anything-goes’ era, so your imagination is your limit when deciding what nail art style you want.

The 31-year-old recently modelled for her lingerie brand Savage X Fenty, showing off the cherry red leggings and long sleeved crop top that will be retailing for $59.95 this Christmas. The pyjama set is stretchy yet slim flitting, making for a stylish set of pyjamas that are sure to be popular over the holiday season.
