Central Park Autumn Luncheon Celebrates Generosity and Community

Central Park shimmered in shades of gold and crimson as more than 500 guests gathered for the Central Park Conservancy Women’s Committee Fall Luncheon. Under clear October skies, the city’s heart felt alive with conversation, color, and the shared spirit of giving.

The luncheon took place across four mid-Park settings, each arranged with seasonal flowers and simple elegance. Guests met over glasses of wine and bright citrus mocktails, enjoying the park’s crisp air and autumn backdrop. The event was both a celebration of friendship and a reminder of the responsibility that comes with caring for New York’s most iconic green space.

Since 1983, the Women’s Committee has played a central role in preserving and restoring Central Park. What began as a small group of dedicated supporters has grown into a membership of more than a thousand. Together they have raised over $200 million to maintain and improve the park. Their work can be seen in every corner, from the restored urns on Bow Bridge and the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center to the revived Safari Playground and the carefully tended Conservatory Garden.

Among those attending were Central Park Conservancy President Betsy Smith and Women’s Committee President Tracey Huff, joined by former chairs Gillian Miniter, Fe Fendi, Sharon Jacob, Jenny Price, Stephanie Hessler, Rankia Cohen, Bonnie Comley, and Margo Nederlander. Their ongoing leadership reflects a tradition of philanthropy that has long shaped the park’s beauty and accessibility.

As the afternoon light faded through the trees, guests lingered beneath the falling leaves. The day felt less like an event and more like a reflection of what Central Park stands for: connection, gratitude, and care for something larger than oneself. The Women’s Committee once again reminded New York that generosity is what keeps its green heart alive.
