“Confident” is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwrtier and actress Demi Lovato. It was released on October 16th via Hollywood Records.
Following the release of her latest promotional single “Nightingale“, Lovato revaled on Twitter that her new album has a more “confident and authentic sound“, it “will be her best work yet” and she wants to “become nominated for The GRAMMYs soon“.
She also announced that she was tired of “making hit songs for the masses and it’s time to share her lane… her SOUND“.
The lead single from the album called “Cool for the Summer“ was released on July 1st.
During her interview On Air with Ryan Seacrest the singer confirmed that her new album is a “new chapter” and will show a “New Demi“. About the album Demi said is influenced by soul, metal, and rock-pop, of which Max warned “is the hardest type of music to produce“.
It’s rumored that the album could include collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Iggy Azalea and Kelly Clarkson. Lovato confirmed Azalea’s collaboration will happen, she said:
I am so excited not only to be one of her bridesmaids, Iggy is one of my closets friends and it would be an honor to have her on my album. So, I’m trying to figure out which song right now, actually, to put her on. But it will definitely happen
According Billboard, Tom Poleman (iHeartMedia national programming chief) recently revealed that he is the one to blame for Demi’s decicion to choose “Cool for the Summer” over the original lead single, a song called “Confident“.
Hollywood Records confirmed that the second official single is the previously announced track “Confident“.
During a recent interview with Capital FM, Lovato has confirmed that she has been working with Hollywood-based emerging female rapper Sirah in this new album.
About her collaboration with Demi, Iggy Azalea revealed some feelings on an interview with The Fix. She said:
I think Demi is somebody that’s come a really long way in her personal journey, body image and musically. It’s been really awesome watching somebody come into their own skin. I’m super proud to see where she’s gone with this album and I’m excited for other people to see what’s changed with her
The next and third promotional single from the album “Stone Cold“ is scheduled to be released on digital retailers on October 9th.
A music video for the Sirah-assisted track “Waitin For You” was premiered by surprise through Vevo on October 22nd. It was directed by Black Coffee.
