“A.I.M.” (previously known as ΛΛ Λ T Λ H D Λ T Λ H) is the fifth studio album by English singer-songwriter and producer M.I.A.. It was released on September 9th via Polydor Records.
The album comes preceded by the promotional single “Matahdatah Scroll 01 Broader Than a Border“, including the songs “Swords” and “Warrios“, released on July 13th via Apple Music.
“Borders“ was released as the second buzz single on November 20th. Besides, M.I.A. also teamed with Swedish clothing brand H&M to raise awareness for World Recycle Week, an H&M initiative that encourages shoppers to recycle unwanted clothing at H&M stores in exchange for store credit. The single called “Rewear It” and its proper music video was premiered on April 8th.
The singer debuted a brad new two parts track “MIA OLA – FOREIGN FRIEND” on March 17th. The song includes the previously unreleased track Folla Foda, sampling The Lion King’s “Circle of Life” intro.
The singer debuted another new track called “POC THAT STILL A RYDA” on June 1st. She described:
This song is a mix of all the songs on my upcoming Lp – had to do a remix to let u know , i been poor , i been rich , i been brown , i been black , i seen white and i been around the world a few times ay ay ay ay . LOVE IS THE ANSWER what the question is i don’t fucking know
The proper lead single “Go Off” produced by Skrillex was released on July 8th via Beatport and it was later removed. It’s expected to be released officially on digital retailers on July 15th.
“Bird Song” was released as next promotional single along the pre-order of the album on Apple Music on August 12th.
The Diplo-version of the single was released on August 18th. The anticipated ZAYN-assisted track “Freedun“ was premiered exclusively on Annie Mac’s Hottest Record at BBC Radio 1 on Thursday September 1st.
“Foreign Friend” was premiered exclusively on Zane Lowe’s World Record at Beats 1 on September 7th. A previously unreleased track “P.O.W.A” was launched on February 8th along its music video, which was directed by M.I.A.
A music video for the album’s track “Finally” was premiered on Friday, April 28th. A brand-new track called “GOALS” produced by Branko was premiered on June 7th.
